1 Our obligations

1.1 Registration and Provision of Service

We will provide you with a password that will allow you to access the Platform(s) (including the Website www.OnMedica.com, other websites, survey software and any associated mobile applications). The Website is provided on an "as is" basis. Some content is made accessible to registered members only, and therefore a valid password will be required to access specific content. Wilmington Healthcare Ltd reserves the right to make changes to the Platforms(s) and/or content at any time, and without notice.

1.2 Data Protection

To ensure that we are meeting our legal obligations relating to current data protection legislation in the UK (including General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) we will need to validate the professional contact details that you provide to us on a regular basis. If at any time, we are unable to validate your information in relation to your professional role, then membership, associated communications and access to content may be interrupted. By registering with OnMedica you are giving your ‘expressed and individual’ consent to allow us to hold your professional details on the Wilmington Healthcare Ltd* database for the purposes stated below (1.3 Use of Personal Data). You may opt-out from the Wilmington Healthcare Ltd database at any time by following the unsubscribe links in emails, emailing validate@wilmingtonhealthcare.com. You understand that by unsubscribing your membership of OnMedica may be invalidated and your access to member-only content on OnMedica will be restricted. For more information about your rights, please refer to our privacy policy.

1.3 Use of Personal Data

Wilmington Healthcare Ltd is the data controller (registration number Z5180243) of your personal details for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulations GDPR. We may collect the following types of information about you:

  • Information you provide at registration or by subsequently changing and/or validating your professional details held on the Wilmington Healthcare Ltd database (including consents and preferences)
  • Records of correspondence you have with us by letter, email or telephone, survey responses that you may complete through our Platforms or in response to email communications from us and our sponsored/licenced third-parties
  • Details of your visits to the site and resources that you access, including information you may wish to have stored to personalise your use of the site (such as links or topics of interest)
  • Records of your comments made on site content and discussion forum postings.
  • Information about your computer, including where available, such as IP address, operating system and web browser used.

These personal, professional details may be used by us or on behalf of other third parties including pharmaceutical companies who we are working with to:

  • Report an adverse drug reaction that you may have posted on the site (See section 1.4)

Our internal working practices also ensure your privacy is protected by limiting employee access to the data. Professional data is only shared with selected third-parties involved in the delivery of healthcare services and/or patient care, and under a strict licence that permits use only for a specified and agreed purpose and terms.

1.4 Adverse Drug Reports

Wilmington Healthcare Ltd may be obliged under the provisions of the Medicines Acts and the ABPI Code of Practice to inform pharmaceutical companies of reports of adverse reactions to any of the companies products that a medically qualified person(s) may post on this site. OnMedica will be obliged, under these provisions, to identify the reporter to the pharmaceutical product licence holder so that the licence holder may make further enquiries by telephone or in writing concerning such reports. However, identifying detail will not include your email address. The information given will be exactly as it is reported.


2 Your obligations

2.1 Correct Information

The professional information that you supply to us for the purpose of registration and validation is true and correct. Membership to OnMedica is reliant on having i) up-to-date and validated professional contact information, including a valid email address. This is because parts of the service are delivered via email. Out-of-date or incorrect information may result in membership of the OnMedica being suspended or withdrawn, or access to member-only content being blocked.

2.2 Safeguarding of Password

You will not make the password with which we supply you available to any third party.

2.3 Distribution of Information

You will not distribute or make available any content of the Website to any third parties who are not members without the express written permission of Wilmington Healthcare Ltd. If you wish to share content with non-members then please contact us in the first instance.

2.4 Obscene or Inflammatory Language

When corresponding with us or any of our members or when posting any comments on the Website you will not use any obscene or inflammatory language, promote or exhibit sexually explicit materials, promote violence or other illegal activities including but not limited to discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age.

2.5 Copyright

You are permitted to print or download some of the material or information displayed on the Website for your personal use, but you may not republish any substantial part of the data in any form without our prior written permission. You acknowledge that the printing or downloading of some of the sections of the Website is strictly prohibited and you are referred to the individual copyright statements displayed on such sections.

Your postings to the Website and communications with other users will not infringe any third parties' copyright or other intellectual property rights.


3 Our rights

3.1 Obscene or Inflammatory Postings

We have the right to remove all obscene or inflammatory postings and all other postings that violate your duty set out in 2.4 above at any time and without further notification to you.

3.2 Withdrawal of Password

We have the right to bar you from using the Website by withdrawing your password at any time and without prior notification, if you violate any of the rules contained in these Terms and Conditions.

3.3 Right to Amend These Terms

We reserve the right to add to and change the terms of this agreement at any time.


4 Disclaimer

4.1 Products of Third Parties

We do not act as agents for and can give no assurances with regard to the persons, companies and other organisations whose goods and services are displayed or referred to on the Website, nor with regard to the availability, suitability, fitness for purpose or prices of such goods or services. We do not endorse or recommend any of these goods or services and no liability is accepted by us in this respect.

4.2 Content

Whilst considerable efforts are made to ensure that the information contained in the Website and Mobile Applications is of the highest quality and accuracy, no warranty in relation to such information is given or shall be implied. We cannot accept responsibility or liability for any content, advice or opinions displayed on the Website and Mobile Applications, including those that are used in the diagnosis or the treatment of patients. In particular, you recognise that the information and material contained in the Website and Mobile Applications is to be used only as a reference aid and is not intended to be a substitute for the exercise of your own professional judgement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude liability for damages arising out of or in connection with the use of the Website and Mobile Applications. This is a comprehensive limitation of liability that applies to all damages of any kind, including (without limitation) compensatory, direct, indirect or consequential damages, loss of data, income or profit, loss of or damage to property and claims of third parties. For the avoidance of doubt we do not limit our liability for death or personal injury where the same arises as a result of our negligence.

The clinical information contained on this site is the responsibility of the authors.

Wilmington Healthcare Ltd and its officers, employees, directors, agents, successors and assigns do not accept any responsibility for the content, accuracy or quality of the clinical information provided on this site, or any liability for any direct, indirect or consequential loss, damage or liability of whatever kind or nature incurred by anyone accessing or using the information. Notwithstanding this, in accessing the information, visitors to the site agree to waive any claim, demand, lien, action, suit or cause of action arising from the use of the information, which they now have or may have in the future against Wilmington Healthcare Ltd.

Editorial Policy

As a general rule, OnMedica receives no educational grants or sponsorship to create the information on the onmedica.com website. Our team of leading medical journalists use a variety of sources to produce daily news reports and we commission independent editorials from GPs and other healthcare professionals. We publish over 1,500 original news reports and articles every year on clinical topics and practice issues plus hundreds of blog posts, including ‘On the Pulse’, our weekly round-up of the week’s medical journals.

We also produce a unique range of online courses and case histories, usually written by medical experts and peer reviewed by specialists or GPs, as appropriate. In some cases financial support might be received to publish these educational modules, and if any support has been received the source of this will be acknowledged on the first page of the module.

In the Medicines Interactive section of the site, you will find presentations, some of which are produced with sponsorship from pharmaceutical companies or other commercial companies. From time to time you may be invited to view these educational or promotional presentations about a new drug product or clinical condition. OnMedica is paid by sponsors to deliver the sponsored presentations to you, and this is the main revenue source for the company.

We promise you will find the presentations quick, informative, convenient - and rewarding! Best of all, you can view an online Medicines Interactive presentation in your own time without any prior appointment, and still receive the usual allowable rewards you would have received had you accepted a visit from a representative in the surgery.

You may encounter other 'sponsored' material elsewhere on the site (such as some articles for which we receive unrestricted educational grants), but we remain dedicated to ensuring that a full and balanced clinical view is presented at all times.

We wish to stress that sponsored content on the site will always be clearly identified and participation is entirely voluntary. We hope all of our members will understand that this website is made possible by members ongoing use of sponsored materials.

  1. Title

    Please choose the relevant salutation from the drop down menu.
  2. First Name

    Please enter your first name(s) including middle name(s) if required. This name should only contain letters, spaces, hyphens or apostrophes. Please give your name in full rather than just initials.
  3. Last Name(s)

    Please enter your last name(s). It should only contain letters, spaces, hyphens or apostrophes.
  4. Email

    Please enter a valid and active email address. This email will be used after registration, to send you an email, which you use to activate your onmedica.com account by clicking on a link in the email. Please make sure you type your email correctly, or you will not be able to activate your account. Your membership is conditional on you having a valid and active email address at all times, and you may, from time to time, be asked to update or validate your details to ensure that you continue to receive the full services and access associated with membership.
  5. Username

    Please create a personal username that you will use to log on to the onmedica.com website. A username can contain letters, numbers, hyphens, @ signs, fullstops and underscores but no spaces. The username must also be between 3 and 50 characters in length. It can be your email address or name if you wish. Examples: john_65, doc10-jon, fred@aol.com, nancysmith
  6. Password

    Please create a personal password that you will use to log on to the onmedica.com website. This can be any combination of alpha-numeric characters, but should contain no spaces. The password must be between 7 and 15 characters in length. Examples: sz45jk7, bugs_bunny52.
  7. Re-Type Password

    For security reasons, please re-type your chosen password in this box so that we can verify that your previous password has been typed correctly. If it does not match the password given in the previous field, you will be prompted to type them both again.
  8. Address

    Please register using your principal surgery, hospital or other place of work address.
  9. Professional Role

    Please choose your professional role from the dropdown menu. If you are a doctor, you must enter a valid GMC number in the relevant box. Similarly, if you are a nursing staff, you must enter a valid NMC number in the relevant box. Healthcare professionals will be validated against either their professional code or Wilmington Healthcare's database of UK healthcare professionals. If your professional details cannot be found on either of these sources, you may be expected to confirm the details of your employment in a healthcare professional role before your account can be activated. Further instructions will be sent to you by email. If you do not fit into one of the qualifying healthcare professional categories, please choose the role labelled 'other', for your registration to be considered by the OnMedica team. Please note that the website is aimed at heatlhcare professionals and your registration or full access to member-only content may not be granted if you do not fulfil the criteria.
  10. Registration Code

    If you have been referred to onmedica.com you may have a registration code which associates your registration with a specific scheme. Please enter any registration code in the relevant box. If you do not know of any referral code, please leave this box blank.
