Editorial Policy

As a general rule, OnMedica receives no educational grants or sponsorship to create the information on the onmedica.com website. Our team of leading medical journalists use a variety of sources to produce daily news reports and we commission independent editorials from GPs and other healthcare professionals. We publish over 1,500 original news reports and articles every year on clinical topics and practice issues plus hundreds of blog posts, including ‘On the Pulse’, our weekly round-up of the week’s medical journals.

We also produce a unique range of online courses and case histories, usually written by medical experts and peer reviewed by specialists or GPs, as appropriate. In some cases financial support might be received to publish these educational modules, and if any support has been received the source of this will be acknowledged on the first page of the module.

In the Medicines Interactive section of the site, you will find presentations, some of which are produced with sponsorship from pharmaceutical companies or other commercial companies. From time to time you may be invited to view these educational or promotional presentations about a new drug product or clinical condition. OnMedica is paid by sponsors to deliver the sponsored presentations to you, and this is the main revenue source for the company.

We promise you will find the presentations quick, informative, convenient - and rewarding! Best of all, you can view an online Medicines Interactive presentation in your own time without any prior appointment, and still receive the usual allowable rewards you would have received had you accepted a visit from a representative in the surgery.

You may encounter other 'sponsored' material elsewhere on the site (such as some articles for which we receive unrestricted educational grants), but we remain dedicated to ensuring that a full and balanced clinical view is presented at all times.

We wish to stress that sponsored content on the site will always be clearly identified and participation is entirely voluntary. We hope all of our members will understand that this website is made possible by members ongoing use of sponsored materials.
