Sarcoidosis is a chronic, multi-system disease characterized by non-necrotizing epithelioid granulomatous inflammation. Organ systems affected include the skin, respiratory tract, ocular, hepatobiliary, renal, cardiac, endocrine, neurological and musculoskeletal tissues [1, 2]. There is an unmet need for robust, evidence-based guidance regarding treatment escalation strategies in cutaneous sarcoidosis [3].
