This is interesting but not surprising. Initially in the Covid-19 pandemic when there were discussions about who would be potentially be eligible for a ventilator and who would not is an extension of this. As clinicians maybe we need to be better at explaining to patients risks vs benefits of interventions. It is sometimes very difficult in empathic words to explain that CPR is traumatic and would not be appropriate for someone. Some patients fully understand this concept but some may feel like you are giving up on them bu suggesting CPR is not appropriate. What words do you use to explain to patients?
