Smartwatches and other wearable technology which can provide heart rate readings have become increasingly popular and clinicians are seeing with increased frequency patients concerned about the numbers they are getting.
Here I give an overview of the devices available and which ones can be trusted for heart rate recording and which cannot, based on evidence from research.
