Quarter of liver transplants linked to alcohol misuse

Almost a quarter of transplanted livers are given to people who damaged their own organs through alcohol misuse, figures released by the Department of Health show.
In 2007/8 23% of liver transplant patients were linked to alcohol misuse compared with 14% in 1997/8.
