Flu cases may have peaked, data from the Royal College of General Practitioners shows.
The most flu cases were seen in the week up to December 21st when there were 68 consultations for flu per 100,000 people.
Consultations halved over the Christmas week when practices were offering fewer surgeries, and only rose 25 per cent the following week.
In the week up to January 4th there were 51 GP consultations per 100,000 people in England.
The RCGP has said that experience of the pattern of flu suggested cases would not rise dramatically again later in January and February.
